Thistrails are an invitation to discover the silent beauty of Cappadocia's unique landscape of fairy chimneys and volcanic formations. Whether negotiating the narrow paths over the crests or galloping through the steppe or along the lush canyons, you will enjoy exhilarating nature trails off the beaten tracks. You will visit cave villages, troglodytic monasteries and ancient frescoed churches, and you will discover the historical and cultural wealth of this region listed World Heritage by UNESCO.
8 days/ 7 nights
Leaving from the ranch between Urgup and Ortahisar, in the heart of the national park, the progressive trail takes you on a 6-day tour around Cappadocia, stopping at a different location every evening. From the peasants' Cappadocia of the south to the most beautiful valleys of the north, a succession of fantastic rock formations, lush canyons, high plateaux, steppe-like landscape, along with vineyards and orchards, compose a surprinsingly varied route. On the way, the villages reflect the Anatolian way of life while frescoed churches and other troglodytic treasures testify of the rich past of the area. Our itinerary takes place entirely within the national park.

You will reach a different location on horseback at the end of each day. A camp will be set up for the horses to spend the night. You will be driven to your guesthouse in the nearest village after tea at the camp and attending to your horse. In order to keep transfer times short, you will be driven to different guesthouses throughout the week (often 2 nights in the same place).
Selon disponibilités, nous utilisons des maisons d'hôtes dans les villages d'Ortahisar, Mustafapasa, Urgup, Uchisar et Goreme.

You will stay in picturesque, comfortable guesthouses located in ancient stone houses or in renovated cave houses, typical of the local architecture.

You will have the time to visit Cappadocia's nicest villages and experience the legendary Turkish hospitality and the Anatolian way of life. Most guesthouses are run by families.

7 nights in double/twin room with ensuite toilets and shower. Single room supplement (depending on availability): 20 Euros per person per night payable locally.

So, what exactly is Cappadocia ?

Just try and imagine a 40 km2 wide, giant meringue formed between 2 and 10 millions years ago by a couple of hallucinatory volcanoes on the Anatolian plateau. While cooling, the warm ashes turned into layers of "tufa" of varied colours and density. Water, wind and man have eroded and carved the soft rock, giving birth to a wonderland of deep canyons and fantastically shaped rock formations that are simply unique in the world.

From prehistoric times, civilizations have flourished here, and the Hittites, Persians, early and Byzantine Christians, Mongols, Greeks and Ottomans have left abundant evidence of their passage. Cappadocia is unique, and, as such, is listed World Heritage by UNESCO.
